Last night, at approximately 19h44, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received a report via a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group about a hijacking that occurred outside a shop on Avoca Road in the Avoca area. The incident involved three armed suspects who arrived in a white unknown vehicle and fled with a white VW Polo belonging to the victim.
The victim reported that while inside the shop, the suspects approached him, brandished firearms, and demanded his car keys. After taking the vehicle, which contained two cell phones, the suspects fled down Avoca Road. The victim noted that the vehicle had minimal fuel and no tracking device installed.
Marshall Security’s Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team were immediately dispatched to investigate. Despite challenges, our officers conducted an extensive search.
Through relentless effort and collaboration, the stolen VW Polo was located abandoned and locked in the KwaMashu area. The vehicle was recovered and transported to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
