At 08:40 this morning, Marshall Security was contacted by the Umhlanga UIP (Urban Improvement Precinct) after their inspector was flagged down by a resident on Ridge Road, Umhlanga reporting a foul smell coming from another tenant’s room.
Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived to find the UIP inspector and other security companies already present. During the inspection, a grim discovery was made: the tenant’s body was found wrapped in blankets under the bed.
The deceased, reportedly missing since Saturday, had been the subject of concern among family members. Adding to the alarm, the tenant’s vehicle – a Mercedes-Benz – is also missing.
Durban North SAPS is currently on the scene and leading the investigation into this suspicious death. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and immediate reporting when something seems amiss in the community.
