This morning at approximately 09:00, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted after one of our Armed Response Officers successfully apprehended a suspect moments after a car break-in outside a restaurant on Florida Road in the Morningside area.
While patrolling Florida Road, our officer noticed a suspicious individual carrying a handbag and a knapsack. Upon spotting the officer, the suspect dropped the bags and attempted to flee. Without hesitation, our officer exited his vehicle and pursued the suspect on foot, managing to apprehend him after a brief chase.
Upon returning to the scene, the officer discovered that the stolen bags had been taken from a white Honda Jazz after the suspect smashed the front passenger-side window.
Berea SAPS was contacted and arrived at the scene shortly after. The suspect was taken into custody after the vehicle owner arrived and opened a case.
