At approximately 09:56 this morning, Marshall Security Armed Response Officers successfully apprehended a suspect linked to a copper pipe theft incident on Prospect Hall Road, Durban North. The theft, which occurred at 18:55 on Sunday evening, had been captured on CCTV footage, providing a crucial lead for officers and a formal case was opened with the SAPS.
While patrolling Riverside Road in Umgeni Park, Armed Response Officers recognised the suspect from surveillance footage and immediately called for backup. Within moments, response teams arrived and located the suspect hiding near the bushes on Riverside Road.
Upon searching the individual, officers discovered a knife in his possession.
The suspect has since been handed over to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and legal proceedings.
