Copper Piping Recovered in Westmead

On Saturday, the 9th of May 2026, a stolen Volkswagen Polo was recovered in KwaMashu following a rapid and coordinated response by Netstar, Phoenix SAPS Trio Crimes, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, and Magma Security and Investigations.

Members received a vehicle tracking activation from Netstar regarding a stolen Volkswagen Polo. The tracking signal placed the stolen vehicle in the KwaMashu B Section area, prompting an immediate response.

Upon arrival, members located the stolen vehicle and found two suspects actively stripping the vehicle in an apparent attempt to locate and remove the tracking device. Members tactically approached the suspects and successfully apprehended both suspects on scene.

A search of the suspects led to the recovery of a signal jammer and various car-breaking implements, believed to have been used in vehicle theft-related crimes.

Further investigation and questioning led members to the suspects’ residence, where a second Volkswagen Polo was recovered. Upon inspection, the vehicle was positively confirmed as stolen and linked to a separate case registered at Sydenham SAPS.

The two suspects, both stolen vehicles, the recovered signal jammer, and the car-breaking implements were handed over to Verulam SAPS for further investigation and processing.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects may be linked to numerous theft of motor vehicle incidents in the Umhlanga, Phoenix, and Verulam areas. Investigations are ongoing to connect the suspects to additional cases.

This recovered stolen Volkswagen Polo operation highlights the effectiveness of real-time vehicle tracking, coordinated response, and intelligence-led operations in disrupting vehicle theft syndicates. The close working relationship between response teams, tracking companies, and SAPS continues to play a critical role in recovering stolen vehicles and apprehending suspects involved in organised vehicle-related crime.
