Diesel Theft Suspect Apprehended in Westmead

This morning, at approximately 05h30, a Marshall Security Greater Westmead Association (GWA) Tactical Officer was informed by a Marshall Security Officer at a GWA client’s business premises on Swanfield Road, Westmead, of a suspicious male hiding with four 25-liter containers of stolen diesel.

GWA Tactical Officers and Armed Response Officers immediately responded and arrived on the scene within minutes.

Upon being confronted, the suspect attempted to flee towards Aubrey Road but was swiftly pursued and apprehended. The suspect was then escorted back to Swanfield Road, where the stolen fuel containers were recovered.

Pinetown SAPS were promptly called to the scene and arrived shortly thereafter. The suspect could not provide officers with a reasonable explanation as to how he had come into possession of the diesel. He was taken into custody, transported to the police station, and charged with being in possession of suspected stolen items.

The origin of the stolen diesel has yet to be confirmed. Homeowners and business owners who may have fallen victim to diesel theft are urged to report the matter to Pinetown SAPS as soon as possible.

This successful apprehension underscores Marshall Security and the Greater Westmead Association’s ongoing commitment to crime prevention and community safety. Our teams remain vigilant and dedicated to collaborating with law enforcement to combat criminal activity effectively.
