Last night at approximately 20h35, while on routine patrol, members of our Special Operations Team and Armed Response Officers identified a vehicle linked to a recent theft in the Durban North area. The vehicle was spotted traveling on Belmont Road in Effingham Heights.
The theft incident had occurred at a well-know petrol station on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, where the suspect had stolen an undisclosed amount of food items. The theft was reported to the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre as well as to the Durban North SAPS, where a case was subsequently opened.
Our team members acted swiftly and the vehicle was immediately stopped and the driver of the vehicle was interviewed. Upon interviewing the driver it was established that it was the suspect that was wanted on the theft case as per CCTV and was immediately apprehended.
The suspect, together with the vehicle used in the commission of crime was handed over to Durban North SAPS for further investigations and processing.
Well done to our team members vigilance resulting in yet another successful arrest.
