On Thursday evening an elderly couple was held up by three armed suspects in their home who proceed to rob them of valuables and their VW Polo as they fled the scene.
At approximately 19h00, members of our Special Operations Team were alerted to a house robbery which had occurred on Edenderry Road in the Avoca Hills area. Our team members immediately responded and arrived on the scene where it was established that an elderly couple had been held up by three suspects, one armed with a firearm and another with a knife. The suspects spent approximately 15 minutes rifling through the house for valuables until leaving in the couple’s silver VW Polo as well.
Our team members were then activated a short while later to assist Tracker SA with locating the VW Polo that had been taken in the house robbery. After an extensive track, the vehicle was finally found abandoned and recovered in the Ntuzuma B – Section by the Tracker SA ground team assisted by members of our Special Ops Team, Cartrack ground team, Ntuzuma SAPS and other private security. The items taken during the house robbery were unfortunately nowhere to be found.
The scene was secured and will be investigated further by the SAPS.
