At approximately 15h15 yesterday afternoon members of our Special Operations Team were activated by Tracker SA to assist with a hijacked silver VW Polo, that had been hijacked in the Empangeni area five days ago.
After a short track the vehicle, fitted with false number plates, was found abandoned and recovered in Earlsfield, Newlands West by members of our Special Operations Team, the Phoenix Trio Crime Unit, Tracker SA ground team, and Provincial Vehicle and Trio Crime unit.
Further investigations by the police and Phoenix Trio Crime Unit members following this recovery, led to the retrieval of another VW Polo that had been hijacked in the Mtunzini area, and a subsequent successful arrest of two suspects.
A short while later, our teams were notified of a white Hyundai i10 that had been stolen during a house robbery in Copperfield Crescent, also in Newlands West.
Members of our Special Operations Team were activated by Matrix Vehicle Tracking to assist with tracking the vehicle that was taken during the house robbery. The vehicle was found still idling, abandoned a few minutes later in the Ntuzuma area by members of our Special Operations Team, Matrix Ground team, Tracker SA ground team, and members of the SAPS.
The scene was secured and also handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.
