Fence Hopping Housebreaker Arrested In Sunningdale

On Tuesday afternoon a housebreaker was arrested while fence hopping between properties in the Sunningdale area.

At approximately 12h00 the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received multiple calls for assistance after a suspect was seen breaking into a client’s property on Sunshine Drive. The suspect stole undisclosed items and then started to fence-hop between neighbouring properties in an attempt to flee after being disturbed.

Multiple Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team members were dispatched and arrived on the scene within minutes, proceeding to surround the area where the suspect was last seen. After an extensive search, the suspect was spotted fleeing from a property on Fernlea Road and was immediately apprehended.

Stolen items were found in the suspect’s possession which were positively identified as having been stolen in a housebreaking incident on Fernlea Road, a non-Marshall client, as well as the housebreaking incident on Sunshine Drive.

The suspect was handed over to the Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
