Relentless Pursuit: Marshall Security and SAPS Track Down Hijacking and Murder Suspects

On 20 February 2025, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) was alerted to a hijacking in Avoca Hills that escalated into a fatal shooting. The incident involved three armed suspects who hijacked a blue Chevrolet bakkie before fleeing the scene. During the attack, the driver of the hijacked vehicle was shot and later succumbed to his injuries.

Later that evening, Greenwood Park SAPS Trio Crimes, together with a tracking company, tracked down and recovered the hijacked vehicle abandoned in the Maphumulo area. A case for murder and hijacking was opened at Greenwood Park SAPS following an extensive investigation and retrieval of CCTV footage.

On 13 March 2025, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, together with Greenwood Park Trio Crimes and Newlands Trio Crimes, received a tip-off that the two suspects identified in the CCTV footage would be attending court for an unrelated case at Ntuzuma Magistrate Court. Acting immediately, the team proceeded to the courthouse for surveillance.

Upon confirming their identities, the team swiftly moved in and apprehended the suspects. During questioning, the suspects revealed the location of the firearm used in the hijacking and murder. The team proceeded to a house in Inanda, successfully recovering the firearm used in the crime.

Further investigation linked the suspects to another hijacking and murder in Quarry Heights, where a white Isuzu bakkie was hijacked. Upon further questioning, the suspects disclosed that the hijacked vehicle was hidden in the Maphumulo area.

The team proceeded to the location and successfully recovered the hijacked Isuzu bakkie.

All exhibits, including the recovered vehicles and firearm, were handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS for further processing and investigation.

While at Maphumulo SAPS, officers confirmed that the two arrested suspects were also wanted for multiple serious crimes, including business robberies and murder in the Maphumulo area.

This highly coordinated operation underscores the critical role of intelligence-led investigations and swift tactical response in bringing dangerous criminals to justice.

Marshall Security extends its gratitude to all role players involved in this successful operation, including Greenwood Park SAPS Trio Crimes, Newlands SAPS Trio Crimes, and our Special Operations Team, for their unwavering commitment to fighting crime.
