Last night our team members’ rapid response leads to the arrest of robbery suspects minutes after an urgent distress call.
At approximately 20h35 the Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received a distress call regarding a common robbery incident that had taken place at the intersection of High Street and Umhlanga Ridge Boulevard in the Umhlanga area.
According to the information received, the suspects forcefully deprived a member of the public of their Samsung Note 9 before making a hasty escape in a silver VW Polo. Recognising the severity of the situation, Marshall Security immediately activated its comprehensive response protocol, disseminating details about the suspects and their vehicle to all team members to be on the lookout.
A short while later at approximately 21h15 members of our Special Operations Team spotted the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle was swiftly intercepted on Moore Road in the Glenwood area, resulting in the apprehension of three suspects. The Samsung Note 9, a key piece of evidence in the robbery, was also promptly recovered.
The suspects have been handed over to the Durban North South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation. The one suspect was arrested by our team members back in May and is currently out on bail. Given the possibility of their involvement in a series of common robberies within the Durban North and Umhlanga regions, the Durban North SAPS will lead an exhaustive inquiry to determine the extent of their criminal activities.
Well done to our team members on yet another successful arrest.
