This morning at around 11h00, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received numerous calls requesting for assistance after a fence hopper was spotted trespassing on Belvedere Road, in the Red Hill area.
While members of our Special Operations Team were patrolling the area in search of the trespasser, the suspect matching the description provided was spotted jumping over a property wall on Belvedere Road, carrying a packet.
Our team members reacted promptly and immediately apprehended the suspect. Upon inspection, our team found frozen meat, water taps and an ice cream tub in his possession.
It was later established that the suspect had stolen the items from a property on Belvedere Road. The homeowner was promptly informed and desired to press charges against the suspect.
Greenwood Park SAPS arrived on scene shortly thereafter and transported the suspect to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
