This morning at approximately 09h12, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted via a WhatsApp Crime Alert of a theft incident which occurred at a well known convenience store on Umhlanga Rocks Drive in the Durban North area.
Multiple Armed Response Officers and members of our Special Operations Team were dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes.
On scene it was established that a suspect entered the store and stole non-perishable cans of food without paying. An accurate description of the suspect was circulated to all our team members to be on the lookout.
A short while later the suspect was spotted on Blackburn Road in the Park Hill area and was immediately apprehended who still had the stolen items in his possession.
The owner of the store, who is a non Marshall client, was informed and wished to press charges against the suspect.
Greenwood Park SAPS were informed who arrived on scene a short while later and transported the suspect to the Police Station for further investigations and processing.
