This morning, at approximately 09h20, our Special Operations Team, whilst conducting a patrol on Flack Place in the Durban North area, they observed a suspect jumping over the front gate of a property. Upon noticing our team, the suspect immediately started to flee on foot.
Our Special Operations Team members quickly gave chase and, after a brief foot pursuit, successfully apprehended the suspect.
Upon searching the suspect, who was found in possession of multiple hand and electrical tools, it was determined that these items had been stolen from a property on Flack Place. At the time of the incident, the homeowner was unaware of the theft.
The Durban North SAPS were promptly notified and arrived on scene. The suspect is now facing charges of theft and is currently under investigation.
Notably, the suspect is known, this marks the third time we have apprehended him in the space of 16 months . There is also a possibility that he may be linked to other cases of housebreaking and theft cases in the Durban North and Greenwood Park area but this will be investigated further by the SAPS.
