At approximately midday today our Special Operations Team responded to a shootout that had occurred on the corner of Dumisani Makhaye and Queen Nandi Drive.
The shooting incident occurred in the KwaMashu area, leaving one person deceased and two others injured. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are currently unknown and the scene has been cordoned off for further investigation by the South Africa Police Service.
Multiple spent casings were found on the scene, indicating that multiple shots were fired. One person, a truck driver, was caught in the crossfire and is being treated by Netcare911 and is being taken to the hospital for further medical assistance. Another person, a passenger in the truck, was grazed by a bullet to the head and is currently in stable condition.
The number and identities of the suspects are currently unknown, as well as the type of vehicle they used.
