On Tuesday, the 23rd of July, members of the iLembe District Task Team received a call from a member of Provincial CI requesting assistance for a firearm operation in the Ezimbandleni area of Maphumulo. The iLembe District Task Team quickly assembled an operational team, including members from MDOC (Provincial CI), Empangeni POP, Hawks Security, and Marshall Security.
At approximately 22h00 on the same date, the operational team arrived at the target’s house with the intention to conduct a search. Upon interviewing the target, identified as a taxi owner, he voluntarily disclosed that he was in possession of the firearms the operations team were looking for.
The team successfully recovered live rounds, a shotgun that was reported stolen in March last year in the Glendale area, and a revolver. This operation yielded positive results, leading to an arrest in the Maphumulo case. The suspect is now facing charges of Illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
This successful operation underscores the importance of collaboration and swift action in ensuring community safety. We commend all teams involved for their dedication and efficiency in executing this operation.
