This morning at 07h30, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received multiple reports of a female screaming for help on Umhlanga Rocks Drive. In response, several Armed Response Officers and members of the Special Operations Team were immediately dispatched to the scene.
During their patrol, one of the Armed Response Officers was approached by a member of the public on Umhlanga Rocks Drive who reported a robbery. The victim stated that she had been robbed of her two cellphones and provided a detailed description of the suspect, who had fled into the Virginia Bush.
The Marshall Security team promptly launched a search for the suspect and after nearly an hour, the suspect was spotted on Malacca Road and apprehended by members of the Special Operations Team and Greenwood Park SAPS. The suspect was found to be in possession of both phones taken during the robbery.
The suspect was taken into custody by Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
It is believed that the suspect has connections to multiple additional robberies of domestic workers in the same vicinity.
The incident serves as a reminder for the public to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to law enforcement immediately.
