Suspects Apprehended for Robbery After High-Speed N2 Interception in Umhlanga

Yesterday at approximately 11h30, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) received information from the Umhlanga Ridge Town, Excellerate Command Centre regarding a cream-coloured VW Polo with no number plates—linked to a Robbery from Person incident last week driving around in the Gateway vicinity.

Acting swiftly, SOT members began monitoring the area. At around 11h45, the vehicle was seen behaving suspiciously near Umhlanga Centre before leaving the area at speed. Our officers patrolled the vicinity and soon located the VW Polo travelling at high speed on the M41, heading toward the N2 southbound. The team moved in and successfully intercepted the vehicle on the N2, apprehending two male suspects.

Durban North SAPS was notified and responded immediately. The suspects and vehicle were handed over for further investigation. It was later confirmed that the suspects were wanted in connection with numerous robbery cases in April.

Further investigation and questioning led to the arrest of a third suspect, who was found in possession of multiple suspected stolen cellphones—allegedly purchased from the first two suspects.

This coordinated takedown underscores the power of real-time surveillance, rapid response, and inter-agency collaboration in holding criminals accountable.

Marshall Security extends its sincere thanks to the Durban North SAPS Crime Prevention team and the Umhlanga Ridge Town, Excellerate Command Centre for their unwavering support and professionalism. Their collaborative effort alongside our Special Operations Team was instrumental in bringing these suspects to justice.
