Suspects Impersonating SAPS Officers Arrested For Howick Armed Robbery

Three suspected armed robbers were arrested after their vehicle was noticed traveling on the R102 earlier today. The vehicle, a white Toyota Etios, was used in an armed robbery in Howick yesterday by suspects impersonating police officers.

At approximately 10h40 this morning members from Marshall Security and the KDM (KwaDukuza Municipality), with assistance from Z2 Security, spotted the vehicle traveling on the R102 north towards the KwaDukuza area. They proceeded to pull the vehicle over to question the three suspects, two men and a woman, and detained them until the SAPS arrived on scene for further investigation.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large sum of cash, multiple credit cards with details that did not match any of the occupants, and what is believed to be falsified certificates of appointment for SAPS members.

All three suspects were taken to the police station for further investigation and processing.
