Last night, at approximately 22h20, a Marshall Security Armed Response Officer reported chasing after a theft suspect in the Morningside area.
The Officer had stopped at a well-known petrol station on Florida Road when a suspect suddenly ran out of the convenience store, followed by staff members who reported that the individual had just stolen food items. Reacting swiftly, the officer pursued the suspect and immediately apprehended him.
Despite the suspect being caught in the act, the business owner who is a Non Marshall client refused to open a case with the SAPS. This decision prevents legal action, allowing the suspect to walk free and potentially continue criminal activities.
The importance of opening a case
Opening a case with SAPS is essential to ensuring that criminals are held accountable. Without formal charges, criminals cannot be prosecuted, increasing the likelihood of repeat offenses. Accurate crime statistics are also essential for law enforcement to allocate resources effectively to high-risk areas.
Marshall Security urges all businesses and residents to report crimes and open cases to aid law enforcement efforts in combatting crime effectively.
Marshall Security remains dedicated to rapid response, expert monitoring, and collaboration with law enforcement to enhance safety and prevent crime.
