Last night, at approximately 18h15, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) was activated by Netstar to assist with a Toyota Corolla Cross that had been hijacked earlier in the evening in the Phoenix area.
Our Special Operations Team immediately responded to the last known location of the hijacked vehicle. While en route, they spotted the Toyota Corolla Cross traveling on Ingome Road in KwaMashu. Upon noticing our team, the suspects attempted to flee but lost control of the vehicle.
Our officers swiftly apprehended the driver, who was found in possession of a replica firearm. Unfortunately, two other suspects managed to evade arrest by fleeing into a nearby informal settlement.
Netstar ground team and KwaMashu SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrived on the scene shortly afterward. During a search of the hijacked vehicle, a second replica firearm was discovered.
The apprehended suspect sustained a leg injury when he jumped out of the vehicle and was taken to a local clinic for treatment under police guard. Both replica firearms and the hijacked vehicle were transferred to KwaMashu SAPS for further investigation and processing.
