On Saturday our teams managed to successfully recover two vehicles in the Ntuzuma area, one that had been stolen and one that had been hijacked.
At approximately 06h40 the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a call from a client on Gumtree Road in the Sea Cow Lake who reported that their vehicle, a white Ford Drifter, had been stolen from their premises during the course of the night after suspects had forced open the driveway gates.
Details of the stolen vehicle were immediately circulated to all our Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team members to be on the lookout. It was established that the vehicle was fitted with a tracking device from Tracker SA and the client immediately made contact with them to activate the device. At approximately 07h15 members of our Special Ops Team were activated to assist Tracker SA with the said stolen vehicle and our members immediately responded.
After a 30 minute track, the stolen vehicle was eventually found abandoned in a yard in the Ntuzuma area where it was recovered by members of our Special Ops Team, the Tracker SA ground team, and the SAPS Kwamashu Trio Crimes unit.
As teams were in the process of escorting the stolen vehicle to Kwamashu SAPS, members of our Special Ops Team were activated yet again to assist Tracker SA, this time with finding a gold Toyota Etios that had been hijacked on Inanda Road in the Sea Cow Lake area earlier on in the evening.
Team members immediately responded and within 5 minutes of being activated, the hijacked vehicle was found abandoned yet again in a yard in the Ntuzuma area where it was recovered by members of our Special Ops Team, Tracker SA and the SAPS Kwamashu Trio Crimes unit. According to eyewitnesses multiple suspects were seen fleeing from the hijacked vehicle, as well as from the house of the yard where the vehicle was parked, just prior to the arrival of our members.
A search was conducted of the house and the keys to the hijacked vehicle was found. A replica firearm, police uniform, and two flat screen TV’s that are believed to have been stolen were also found.
The stolen vehicle and hijacked vehicle together with all other recovered items were taken to Kwamashu SAPS for further investigation and processing.
