Durban Motorists Warned: Vehicle Crimes On The Rise

We urge motorists to keep their guard up as we head into the holidays following a noticeable increase in hijackings and vehicle thefts. In the past week alone our teams recovered seven stolen and hijacked vehicles from across the greater Durban area.

In November, 227 incidents were reported to our Emergency Dispatch Centre. This is a 1% increase compared to the year-to-date average, with no increase on the incident rate we recorded in October. The top types of incidents throughout the month were theft of copper, housebreakings, theft and Trespassing.
