Copper Theft Suspect Apprehended Following AI Camera Alert

On Sunday afternoon, at approximately 16h21, Marshall Security’s Off-Site Monitoring Centre received an alert from a camera activation on a client’s property on Fairway Road, Durban North. The intrusion alert confirmed the presence of a suspect on the premises.

Our Off-Site Monitoring Centre immediately dispatched Armed Response Officers to the scene, providing valuable information, including the suspect’s description and movement.

Upon arrival, the suspect spotted our officers and attempted to flee on foot. Our officers pursued the suspect, and a brief chase ensued, ending with the successful apprehension of the suspect.

A thorough inspection revealed that the suspect had forcibly removed copper pipes from the property. The stolen copper pipes and the tools used were successfully recovered from the suspect’s possession.

The homeowner expressed the desire for a case to be opened. Durban North SAPS were contacted and informed accordingly, and arrived shortly thereafter. The suspect and the recovered items were transported to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
