This afternoon, just after 13h30, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted by a security officer stationed at a well-known complex on Soofie Saheb Road about a disturbing discovery. A member of the public had spotted what appeared to be a deceased body hanging from a tree near the riverbanks of the Umgeni River on Riverside Road, Durban North.
Marshall Security’s Armed Response Officers, along with members of the Special Operations Team, were immediately dispatched to locate the scene. Following a brief search, they discovered the severely decomposed body still hanging from a tree.
The area was swiftly secured, and Durban North SAPS, along with Metro Police Search and Rescue, were notified and arrived on the scene shortly afterward to take over the investigation.
Durban North SAPS has confirmed that a case has been opened, and they will conduct the necessary inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic discovery.
