Proactive patrols and rapid response by GWA Marshall Security Armed Response Officers resulted in two suspects being apprehended in separate incidents in the Westmead area.
In the most recent incident, this morning at approximately 05h10, GWA Armed Response Officers were conducting patrols when they noticed a suspicious individual carrying a large truck rim on his head near Surprise Road.
The suspect was stopped and questioned but could not provide a reasonable explanation as to where he had obtained the truck rim. He was subsequently apprehended.

Further investigation established that the truck rim had been stolen from a business premises on Surprise Road.
Pinetown SAPS were notified and attended the scene shortly thereafter. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Pinetown SAPS for further investigation and processing.
In a separate incident yesterday at approximately 17h27, the GWA Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received a panic activation from a well-known fuel station on Henry Pennington Road.
Staff at the premises reported that they had identified a suspect wanted in connection with a previous theft incident from last month, during which the suspect had fled the scene with an undisclosed quantity of stolen items. CCTV footage from the incident was obtained, and a formal case was registered with Pinetown SAPS.
GWA Marshall Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched and, upon arrival, spotted and successfully apprehended the suspect.

Pinetown SAPS were notified and attended the scene, with the suspect subsequently transported to Pinetown SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Marshall Security commends the vigilance and proactive approach of the GWA Marshall Armed Response Officers involved in both incidents. Their ability to identify suspicious activity, act decisively and respond rapidly once information was received resulted in two successful apprehensions.
