Last night, at approximately 23h23, Marshall Security’s Emergency Dispatch Centre received a report from a non-client on Wager Avenue, Prestondale, regarding unusual noises emanating from their garage.
Marshall Security’s Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival, the first responding officer discovered that a garage window had been forced open and identified a suspect hiding inside. Additional backup units arrived on the scene, and the suspect was successfully apprehended in a coordinated effort.
Shortly afterward, a second report was received concerning an attempted copper pipe theft at a non-client’s property on Albizia Road, Prestondale. The suspect had been interrupted during the theft, leaving behind tools used to cut the copper pipes and fleeing the scene.
The suspect apprehended on Wager Avenue was positively identified by the Albizia Road homeowner as the individual involved in the attempted theft.
Both residents expressed their intent to press charges against the suspect. Durban North SAPS were promptly contacted, arriving on the scene shortly thereafter to take the suspect into custody for further processing and investigation.
