Sharp Eyes in the Early Hours Lead to Apprehension

At approximately 02h10, a Marshall Security Officer stationed at a well-known estate in the La Lucia area spotted a suspicious male walking near the intersection of Old Bush Road and Moreland Drive in the La Lucia area. The officer immediately contacted the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre for assistance.

Multiple Armed Response Officers were promptly dispatched to investigate and began searching the surrounding area.

Officers subsequently spotted the male along Ronan Road and stopped him to establish his reason for being in the area at that hour. Unable to provide a reasonable explanation, the individual was searched, and numerous housebreaking implements were discovered in his possession. He was immediately apprehended.

Durban North SAPS were contacted and arrived on scene shortly afterwards. The suspect, together with the recovered housebreaking implements, was transported to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.

Marshall Security commends the vigilance of the Security Officer whose initial observations proved to be correct, as well as the persistence of the Armed Response Officers who continued searching the area after initially being unable to locate the suspect.

The incident highlights the value of alert security personnel, rapid information sharing and coordinated response efforts in identifying suspicious activity and potentially preventing criminal activity within our communities.
