Car Theft Suspect Arrested Following Successful Vehicle Track And Recovery

A car theft suspect was arrested and two vehicles recovered within a couple hours of each other during joint operations with Tracker SA and the SAPS yesterday.

In the afternoon just after 14h30 members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Tracker SA with locating a stolen Toyota Fortuner, that had been taken from the Bellair area earlier in the morning.

Our team members immediately responded and zoned in on the possible whereabouts of the stolen vehicle. A few minutes later our team members spotted the stationary Fortuner with a single occupant, in a parking lot on Kearsney Road in the Durban Central area.

The suspect was swiftly and immediately arrested, with the assistance of the SAPS Provincial Task Team.

The suspect along with the stolen vehicle, which had been almost entirely stripped by that time, was taken to the Point Police station for further processing and investigation.

A couple hours later at approximately 21h00, our Special Operations Team were yet again activated to assist Tracker SA with a VW Polo that had been hijacked in the Newlands area.

After a lengthy search the vehicle was eventually located and found abandoned by members of our Special Operations Team, Tracker SA ground team and the SAPS in an informal settlement in A Section, Kwamashu.

The SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
