On Thursday evening members of our Special Operations Team arrested a known criminal in possession of suspected stolen goods.
Whilst on routine patrol in the Avoca area members of our Special Ops Team spotted a well-known theft suspect on old North Coast Road acting suspiciously. Our team members immediately conducted a stop and search.
Upon searching the suspect copper pipes, brass taps and electrical cables were found in his possession. The suspect could not give a reasonable explanation as to how he had acquired these items and was immediately apprehended. Housebreaking implements were also found in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect had previously been arrested earlier this year by members of our Special Ops Team, whereafter he pleaded guilty in court and paid a fine. The suspect was handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS where the suspect will be facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen items, damage to state infrastructure and being in possession of house breaking implements.
Marshall Security have attended to over 27 incidents of theft of copper in the Greenwood Park and Durban North area this month so far. We urge all members of the public to please report these thefts to your nearest police station.
