This morning at approximately 09h30, members of our Special Operations Team, in collaboration with Kwamashu SAPS acted on information received reguarding the possible location of a Toyota Hilux which had been hijacked the previous evening.
Team members immediately responded and in a joint effort the hijacked Toyota Hilux was found abandoned behind a building in Kwamashu A – Section.
The recovered vehicle was then transported to Kwamashu SAPS for further investigation and processing.
In another incident on the 1st of January, at approximately 14h10 members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Matrix Tracking with a Toyota Tazz which had been hijacked last night in the Kwadukuza area where the driver of the vehicle was kidnapped and kept hostage in the vehicle until this morning.
As our team members approached the location of the hijacked vehicle which was in the Newlands area an undisclosed amount of suspects standing around the vehicle fled on foot.
An extensive search was conducted for the suspects but unfortunately managed to evade arrest after fleeing into a nearby informal settlement.
The vehicle was severely stripped and together with the assistance of Matrix Ground Team and The SAPS Vehicle and Trio Task Team the hijacked vehicle was transported to Newlands East SAPS for further processing and investigations.
