At approximately 04h12, Marshall Security Special Operations Team, while on routine patrol, noticed a suspicious white VW Polo driving ahead of them .
After following the vehicle for a short distance, the car came to a halt, and three occupants exited and fled into nearby bushes in the Newlands area. Multiple Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched as backup.
Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle’s ignition had been tampered with and damaged, a telltale sign that the vehicle could possibly have been stolen.
Upon further investigation, it was established that the vehicle had been stolen from a non-client’s premises on Barwood Place in the Kenville area.
Newlands East SAPS were notified and arrived shortly thereafter. The vehicle was subsequently handed over to SAPS for further investigation and processing.
