A thorough investigation by Marshall Security led to the arrest of a suspect following the theft of two cellphones from a well known holiday estate on Ocean Drive in the Shakas Rock area, Ballito.
At approximately 14h55 on Saturday, 8 August 2026, Marshall Security was alerted to a theft incident after a resident returned to her apartment from the beach and discovered that two cellphones had been stolen from their premises.
Marshall Security Officers immediately responded and met with the complainant to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Through CCTV footage and working on information received, Marshall Security and Umhlali SAPS were able to identify and locate the suspect (a current employee) in the Itete area who was found in possession of both stolen cellphones and was immediately apprehended.
Unfortunately the holidaymakers visiting the area, decided not to pursue criminal charges after their property had been recovered. They expressed their sincere appreciation and gratitude to both Marshall Security, Umhlali SAPS and Kwadukuza Metro for their professionalism and the successful recovery of their cellphones.
Marshall Security encourages all victims of crime to open a criminal case with SAPS, even if stolen property has been recovered. Every reported case contributes to building intelligence, identifying crime trends, and linking suspects to other offences. Opening a case also strengthens investigations, increases the likelihood of successful prosecutions, and helps remove repeat offenders from our communities.
