At approximately 11h31 this morning, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alert via a WhatsApp Crime Alert Group reporting that a suspect had jumped into a property on Venice Road in Morningside. The property is not a Marshall Security client.
Multiple Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched and responded without delay.
Upon arrival, Officers conducted a thorough search of the property, but no immediate signs of forced entry or the suspect were found.
With a clear description provided by an eyewitness, Officers expanded their search into the surrounding area.
A short while later, a male matching the description was spotted walking along Churchill Road. He was quickly apprehended by responding Officers.
A search of the suspect’s bag led to the discovery of a hosepipe. Further investigation confirmed that the item had been stolen from a property on Venice Road, the owner of which was unaware of the theft at the time.
The suspect was handed over to Berea SAPS for further investigation and processing.
This incident once again highlights how unprotected properties are often targeted. Despite this, Marshall Security continues to respond wherever needed, because when it matters most, we show up.
