INCIDENT: FRAUD / RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE / SUSPECT ARRESTED

At approximately 20h35, Marshall Security received a panic alert from a service station in Chris Hani Road, Briardene after the driver of a Toyota Hilux had attempted to pay for fuel using a fraudulent credit card. On arrival of armed reaction officers, the vehicle fled onto Chris Hani Road and a high-speed chase ensued onto Seacow Lake Road, with the driver losing control and colliding with a tree.
The driver, a male, was arrested on scene. Further investigation revealed the Toyota to have been stolen in Mpumalanga last month. The suspect and vehicle were secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
