On Thursday 23 July at approximately 13h00, members of our Special Operations Team were activated by Tracker SA to assist with a hijacked Toyota Quantum in the Kwa-Mashu area.
The Toyota Quantum’s last known location was in Kwa-Mashu C-section. It was suspected that a jamming device was being used by the suspects as the tracking unit was not updating. Our Special Operations Team and members of SAPS searched the area and managed to spot the hijacked Toyota Quantum on Phongolo road in Kwa-Mashu and a high-speed chase and shoot out ensued.
The suspects, unfortunately, managed to evade arrest as they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
The hijacked Toyota Quantum as well as a jamming device that was found inside the vehicle was handed over to the SAPS. Fortunately, no members were injured during the chase and shoot out.
