INCIDENT: HOUSE ROBBERY / SUSPECT ARRESTED

At approximately 20:20 on Thursday night, Marshall Security were alerted to a house robbery which had occurred in Kenneth Kaunda Road, Durban North.
Armed Reaction officers descended on the scene and further information ascertained indicated that a male suspect armed with a knife had jumped the boundary wall to the property before entering the home and confronting the family. A scuffle broke out when the suspects attempted to confront the children and the male homeowner intercepted. The suspect stabbed the homeowner before fleeing the scene.
A description of the suspect was distributed to all Marshall Security vehicles in the area and within minutes, the suspect was spotted and arrested on Northumberland Place. He was confirmed as being the same man who had stormed the home and assaulted the homeowner.
He was remanded into the custody of the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
Crisis Medical paramedics were called to the scene to assist the victim, who was taken by ambulance under Intermediate Life Support care and monitoring, to a nearby hospital for further care. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
The family members were left severely traumatised in the ordeal and the North Durban Victim Support Team were summoned to counsel them.
The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services.
