A suspect arrested by Marshall Security Armed Response Officers and members of the Special Operations Team (SOT) has been sentenced to three years’ direct imprisonment following a successful investigation and prosecution.
The incident began when multiple reports were received via Crime Alert WhatsApp groups regarding a suspicious individual seen on a property in the Conyngham Avenue area wearing green overalls.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers and members of the Special Operations Team immediately responded and launched a coordinated search after the suspect attempted to evade capture by jumping between several residential properties.
Following an extensive search of the area, members spotted the suspect exiting a property on Clarendon Road before fleeing on foot. Officers immediately gave chase and successfully apprehended the suspect on Eastview Road.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of two pairs of sneakers and various items of clothing. Further investigation confirmed that the property had been stolen during a housebreaking at a nearby residence on Clarendon Road.
The suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
Following the arrest, members of the Marshall Security Special Operations Team and Investigations Team worked closely with the Greenwood Park SAPS Detectives to ensure a thorough investigation was conducted and that all the necessary evidence was placed before the court.
Their dedication and collaborative efforts resulted in the successful prosecution of the accused, Nkosi Mchunu has now been sentenced to three years’ direct imprisonment.
