In a major step forward for justice and community protection, Marshall Security confirms a successful conviction following the arrest of 48-year-old Enoch Mkhize for the theft and damage of infrastructure at Athlone Bridge.
On 24 June 2024, at approximately 11h26, members of the Marshall Security Special Operations Team, while on routine patrol, noticed Mkhize stripping and damaging aluminum railings from Athlone Bridge.
Reacting swiftly, the team, supported by Armed Response Officers, pursued the suspect in a brief foot chase before successfully arresting him on the nearby golf course. The stolen aluminum was recovered at the scene. Durban Central SAPS arrived promptly, taking the suspect into custody for processing.
After thorough investigation and prosecution, Mkhize was found guilty on 8 September 2025 at the Durban Magistrates Court and was sentenced to four years of direct imprisonment for damage to infrastructure and theft.
This conviction is a clear demonstration of the vigilance and effectiveness of Marshall Security’s teams, whose rapid intervention not only stopped the crime in progress but also ensured accountability through the legal system.
