At approximately 04H12 this morning, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alert from a Community WhatsApp Group regarding a copper cable theft in progress on Belmont Road. Our Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, our officers pursued and apprehended the suspect on Firwood Road. A search revealed that the suspect was in possession of approximately 2 meters of copper cable, the stolen copper was promptly recovered.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS, where he was charged with copper cable theft.
We commend the alert resident who reported the copper cable theft and promptly alerted Marshall Security.
