A motorist was shot during a hijacking of his Mercedes Benz on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 16h40 members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Tracker SA with locating a Mercedes Benz that had been hijacked in the Ntuzuma area, where the motorist had been shot during the hijacking.
Members of our Special Operations Team immediately responded to the last known location of the hijacked vehicle, and it was recovered within 30 minutes of being activated, by members of our Special Operations Team and the Tracker ground team. The vehicle was found abandoned on a dirt road in KwaMashu A-Section, riddled with bullet holes.
The victim was rushed privately to Kwamashu Poly Clinic in a stable condition.
The scene was secured and handed over to KwaMashu SAPS who arrived a short while later. The scene will be processed and investigated further by the SAPS.
A short while later, a Toyota Etios that was stolen in Musgrave was found severely stripped when it was tracked down in Morningside shortly after being taken.
At approximately 18h50 on Tuesday evening, Marshall Security was activated to assist Tracker SA with locating a red Toyota Etios that had been stolen from Musgrave Road in the Musgrave area.
Multiple Armed Response Officers were dispatched to the last known location of the stolen vehicle and within 8 minutes of being activated, the vehicle was found abandoned. It was recovered on Cottam Grove just off Florida Road in the Morningside area, the interior severely stripped, by our Armed Response Officers together with other private security companies.
The stolen vehicle was then returned to the owner, who did not require opening a case with the SAPS.
