On Monday, 31 March 2025, SPAR Investigations followed up with Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) regarding the whereabouts of business robbery suspects and a suspect vehicle — a white Renault Triber — involved in a series of SPAR TOPS robberies.
The suspects and vehicle were initially spotted in the Umbilo area. Marshall Security’s SOT members began coordinating with other key role players. The Renault was followed into Durban Central; however, due to heavy traffic congestion, the vehicle was temporarily lost.
Later, new intelligence placed the suspect vehicle in the Morningside area, where it was spotted again by Urban Defence, SPAR Investigations, and Marshall Security’s SOT. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects opened fire and drove counterflow along Gladys Mzansi Road in an attempt to evade arrest.
Despite the dangerous manoeuvre, the vehicle was intercepted, and two suspects were successfully apprehended. Two replica blank firearms were recovered, along with stolen alcohol believed to have been taken in the Ellis Park Tops robbery on Friday, 28 March 2025.

The white Renault Triber and the arrested suspects have been positively linked to several business robberies of late in the Pinetown, Umbilo, Westville, Bellair and Greenwood Park areas.
Marshall Security commends the bravery, coordination, and rapid response of all involved.
