Murder Investigation Launched After Fatal Crash in Greenwood Park

At approximately 20h30 yesterday evening, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received reports of a single-vehicle accident on Effingham Road, near Chris Hani Road, in the Greenwood Park area.

Marshall Security Armed Response Officers and members of the Special Operations Team immediately responded and arrived on scene within minutes.

Upon arrival, members found the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, entrapped inside. The individual showed no signs of life.

Netcare 911, Greenwood Park SAPS, and the eThekwini Fire Department were immediately contacted and responded to the scene.

While emergency personnel were attending to the deceased, it was discovered that the individual had sustained multiple stab wounds. It is suspected that these injuries may have been inflicted before the crash and may have contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

The scene was immediately secured and cordoned off, with Greenwood Park SAPS commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A murder investigation is currently underway.

The motive remains unknown at this stage.

Marshall Security extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
