Marshall Security Armed Response Officers successfully apprehended two suspects in separate incidents within a short space of time, highlighting the value of proactive patrols, rapid response, and community reporting in combating property-related crime.
At approximately 08h00, while conducting routine patrols along Chris Hani Road, Marshall Security Armed Response Officers observed an individual carrying several aluminium strips and behaving suspiciously.
Based on the suspicious behaviour observed, the individual was stopped and questioned.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to unlawfully entering a property on Conyngham Avenue and stealing the aluminium strips. Marshall Security officers proceeded to the property, where contact was made with the homeowner and it was confirmed that a case would be opened against the suspect.
Greenwood Park SAPS were contacted and arrived shortly thereafter. The suspect was transported to the police station for further investigation and processing.

In another incident, at approximately 09h45, Marshall Security received information from a Marshall Security client that a suspect linked to a theft incident at their property on Sandile Thusi Road, Morningside, several days earlier had been sighted on Matthews Meyiwa Road in the Morningside area.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers immediately responded, located the complainant, and successfully identified and apprehended the suspect.
The complainant confirmed that CCTV footage positively identified the suspect as the individual responsible for the earlier theft at the premises.
Durban Central SAPS were contacted and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The suspect was transported to the police station for further investigation and processing.
These incidents once again highlight the importance of proactive patrols, rapid response, community vigilance, and the effective use of CCTV in identifying criminals.
