Over the past few hours, our residents witnessed the effectiveness and vigilance of Marshall Security’s officers, resulting in two separate arrests in the community within hours.
At approximately 11h51, our Emergency Dispatch Centre received a message via a Crime Alert WhatsApp Group reporting a suspect jumping into a property in the Greenwood Park area. Minutes later, the suspect was seen leaving the property and walking along Rosary Road.
Our Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team (SOT) were immediately dispatched. The suspect was quickly spotted and was apprehended by our team.
A search of the suspect and his belongings revealed that he had three wheel caps in his possession, which were later confirmed to have been stolen items from a property on Rosary Road.
Greenwood Park SAPS and the homeowner were contacted and arrived on the scene. The homeowner confirmed ownership and requested to open a formal case. The suspect was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS for further processing and investigation.
Just a few hours later, at approximately 13h25, another message was received on a Crime Alert WhatsApp Group regarding a suspect stealing an outside light from a property on The Curl.
Once again, our officers and SOT members responded immediately. Our team successfully spotted the suspect on Glen Anil Street and immediately apprehended him. Our team also recovered the stolen light along with house break-in implements that were in his possession.
Durban North SAPS and the homeowner were contacted. The homeowner confirmed everything and expressed an interest in opening a case with SAPS.
The suspect and the recovered items were transported to Durban North SAPS for further processing and investigation.
Both incidents underscore the importance of community vigilance and rapid reporting, as well as the proactive presence of Marshall Security in these areas. Residents are reminded to report suspicious activity immediately to ensure that stolen items are recovered safely through the proper channels.
