On 21 September, at approximately 07h33, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was notified of a shoplifting incident at a well-known shopping centre in Durban North. An on-site Security Officer observed a suspect carrying a shopping bag and stopped him to verify the items.
When questioned, the suspect could not provide proof of purchase for the items in the bag. A total of six items were found in the bag.
Marshall Security immediately dispatched Armed Response Officers to the scene, and Durban North SAPS were also contacted and quickly arrived. The suspect was taken into custody by SAPS and transported to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
