A coordinated operation involving Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, Bidtrack Tracking, ET Security TRT Team, and Bhekitemba SAPS has resulted in the recovery of a stolen Toyota Hilux, the arrest of a suspect, and the recovery of a second suspected stolen vehicle.
On Saturday, 1 August 2026, at approximately 16h00, members received information from Bidtrack Tracking regarding a Toyota Hilux that had been stolen from the Hillcrest area.
Tracking information indicated that the vehicle was in the Umlazi area. Members immediately proceeded to the location provided by the tracking company.
Upon arrival, members located the stolen Toyota Hilux occupied by two suspects who were actively stripping the vehicle.
Members tactically approached the suspects; however, upon noticing the approaching teams, both suspects fled on foot in different directions.
One suspect was successfully apprehended inside the stolen Toyota Hilux, while the second suspect was pursued by responding members.
During the pursuit, the fleeing suspect ran towards the main road, where he entered a white Volkswagen Polo in an apparent attempt to escape. The driver of the Polo stalled the vehicle, forcing both occupants to abandon it and flee on foot into the nearby informal settlement.
Despite an extensive search, the two suspects managed to evade arrest.
The abandoned Volkswagen Polo was secured and inspected together with SAPS members. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle’s VIN had allegedly been tampered with, while the ignition also showed signs of tampering, leading members to suspect that it may also have been stolen.
A search of the apprehended suspect resulted in the recovery of a cloned Toyota Hilux key, believed to have been used during the theft of the recovered Toyota Hilux.
Bhekitemba SAPS took over the scene for further investigation. The recovered Toyota Hilux, the suspected stolen Volkswagen Polo, and the arrested suspect were transported to Bhekitemba SAPS for further investigation and processing.
This successful operation highlights the importance of strong partnerships between Marshall Security, tracking companies, private security role players, and SAPS. Through intelligence sharing, rapid response, and coordinated tactical operations, another stolen vehicle was recovered, a suspect was arrested, and further evidence was secured to support the ongoing investigation.
