Last night, at approximately 20h57, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an urgent call for assistance via a community WhatsApp Crime Alert Group regarding a shooting incident which occured on the corners of Hendon and Wembley Road in the Kenville area.
In response, multiple Armed Response Officers and members of our Special Operations Team members, were swiftly dispatched to the location to evaluate the situation and provide the necessary assistance.
Upon their arrival, our team was confronted with a tragic scene: two brothers had been victims of a shooting carried out by an unknown amount of armed suspects.
Further inquiries revealed that the brothers were simply standing by the road when the unprovoked assault took place. One of the brothers sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh and his ear was grazed by a bullet, while the other tragically lost his life to a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced deceased on the scene by Netcare911 paramedics.
Greenwood Park SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating a case of attempted murder and murder.
