A vehicle that was stolen in Durban North was recovered approximately 20 minutes after teams were activated to respond to the theft last night.
Just after 21h30 the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted to the theft of a motor vehicle incident on Ranleigh Crescent in the Durban North area. Multiple Armed Response Officers were dispatched to the scene and details of the stolen vehicle was circulated to all our members to be on the lookout.
Upon further investigation it was established that the victim’s car keys had been stolen from his bag by an unknown suspect, after he noticed that his vehicle had been stolen. It was also established that the vehicle was fitted with a tracking device from Tracker SA.
Tracker SA was alerted and members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist with the stolen vehicle. Our members then responded to the last known location and recovered the vehicle abandoned on a dirt road in C – Section Kwamashu together with the assistance of the Tracker ground team and the SAPS.
The scene was secured and will be investigated further by the SAPS.
